Captain Diana Bishop started her career with the Santa Clara Police Department in 1985. As an officer she worked in all three of the department's divisions. She was promoted to sergeant in 1997 and worked in both the Field Operations and Administrative Services divisions. In 2001 she was promoted to lieutenant. She served as the swing shift watch commander, Special Operations lieutenant, and Communications lieutenant. Upon her promotion to captain she was assigned to oversee the Field Operations Division.

Captain Bishop received her Bachelor's degree from the University of San Francisco and her Master's degree from Golden Gate University.
