The Reserve officers are responsible for providing security and traffic control for the city’s annual Fourth of July celebration at Central Park, Art and Wine Festival and parades sponsored by private organizations within the city. One of their primary duties is patrolling city parks and buildings. Reserve officers also work the front desk of the police department and supplement beat officers in the city. Reserve Police Officers are required to be on call in the event of critical incidents or any event where officers with their training is needed. There were 27 Reserve Police Officers in 2004 and they logged almost 14,000 hours of service.
