Assistant Chief Kevin Kyle was hired as a Santa Clara Police Officer in 1982. Kevin has progressed through the ranks, having served in all three of the Department’s Divisions: Field Operations, Investigations, and Administrative Services.

Kevin has experience as a Field Training Officer, SWAT Team member, and undercover narcotics officer. Kevin became a sergeant in 1994, supervising patrol officers, the Department’s narcotics enforcement unit, and helping to establish the Citizen’s Police Academy.

Kevin became a lieutenant in 1997 and served as Special Operations coordinator, a Watch Commander, coordinator of the Police Reserve Unit, and in the Community Services Unit. Kevin was promoted to Captain in 2001 and commanded both the Administrative Services Division and the Field Operations Division.

Kevin was appointed Assistant Chief of Police in 2003 and enjoys his role working with personnel throughout the Police Department, other City departments, and members of the community.

Kevin is a graduate of San Jose State University and the FBI National Academy.
